From ancient medicine to modern munchie—this treat’s been around the block.
Before it became the ultimate grab-and-go snack, licorice had a weird past. Like, ancient-Egyptian-weird. Thousands of years ago, licorice root was used as a cure-all for everything from sore throats to heartbreak (okay, maybe not heartbreak, but who's to say?).
Fast forward to the Middle Ages and licorice was a staple in herbal medicine. It showed up in scrolls, tonics, and even church candy. That’s right—people were snacking on licorice while praising the Lord. Iconic.
In the 1900s, licorice made its way into the candy world, but it was not the glow-up we love today. It was mostly black, chewy, and kind of an acquired taste. Respect to the OGs, but we knew it could be better.
Enter: Legendary Licorice. A new era of flavor, fun, and zero apologies. We took the root, added some bold flavor, wrapped it in Gen Z energy, and gave the world something it actually wanted to chew on.
So yeah, licorice has been around. But trust us, it’s never been like this before.
